8 Egg-cellent Things To Do This Easter Long Weekend
It’s here! The long weekend we all dream about as soon as Christmas, Boxing Day, and NYE are over.
You’re about to be granted four whole days to do whatever the heck you want. (Unless you work in hospo and then we hope they’re four whole days that are raining with tips.)
From cocktail hopping and food and wine festivals to BBQs and night markets, here’s eight awesome things to do on the Sunshine Coast this Easter long weekend.
Twilight Markets Caloundra | Friday, April 14
Southerners who a) like sunset strolls and b) enjoying stuffing their faces with moreish street food, need to get their arses to Twilight Markets Caloundra. Held along the esplanade at Bulcock Beach, these guys have quite possibly nabbed the best waterfront posi on the Sunshine Coast. Start with a swim, go for a wander and a shop through the 100+ stalls, then head to 26 Degrees for a cocktail.
Kenilworth Cheese, Wine & Food Festival | Saturday, April 15
Do something a little different this Easter Saturday and head away from the Coast until you hit the Kenilworth Cheese, Wine & Food Festival. This charming town hosts this annual shindig and with random events like the Great Cheese Rolling Contest, we can pretty much guarantee it’s not gonna be your average cafe-then-beach weekend. Graze the stalls, sip on wines, devour local cheeses, and soak up that country air.
Gaucho BBQ | Saturday, April 15
If you’re not eating meat this Good Friday, make up for the time you lost by hitting Bean Drop’s Gaucho BBQ on Saturday. Held from noon until 4pm, don’t forget to BYO beers to help wash down those smoky flavours.
Ocean St World Festival | Sunday, April 16
Free events don’t get much bigger or better than the Ocean St World Festival. Conveniently held on Easter Sunday, so you’ve got something to do once you’ve eaten all of the chocolate, we don’t even know where to start with this mammoth line-up. There’ll be live music acts from around the world, market stalls, a whole lot of dancing—think: salsa and Indonesian dance performances, plus Bollywood workshops, art installations, and so much more! From 10am to 10pm, Ocean Street will be the place to be.
MADE Market | Sunday, April 16
If this market doesn’t sound familiar, it’s probably because it’s so new it hasn’t even launched yet. Opening for the first time on Easter Sunday, in conjunction with Ocean St World Festival, this monthly creative market will take place inside the Big Top Shopping Centre. Showcasing local and independent labels, brands, creators, photographers, and designers, MADE will then be held every second Friday night (4pm to 9pm).
Live Music & Jugs Of Beer At The Basement | Sunday, April 16
We love nothing more than swigging back a few too many frothy ones with our mates and listening to live tunes, which is why Easter Sunday at The Basement sounds like the perfect idea. Kyle Shackleford will be putting up the sounds, and the boys from Your Mates will be pouring jugs of their craft beer for only 15 buckaroos. And remember, drink as much as you want cos Monday is ANOTHER public holiday. Woot!
Cocktail Hop Through Noosa | All Weekend Long
Starting with Bordertown’s lip-smacking Acapulco Zombie—think: tequila, agave, lime, fresh passionfruit, orange, and pineapple—wind your way through Noosaville and then onto Noosa Junction, sipping on cocktails all day long. Other places to hit? Flux, sunset times at Noosa Boathouse, then Junction faves like Moto, Cholo, Padstows, and Village Bicycle.
