7 Awesome Markets To Check Out This December
If it’s not already super obvious, which we highly doubt, we at Metropolist HQ are massive, MASSIVE fans of a good market.
Thankfully, we live on the Sunshine Coast. Which is awesome because a) it’s the Sunshine Coast, and b) we have a shitload of variety when it comes to satisfying our stall-hopping cravings.
To help you actually enjoy your Christmas shopping (both food for the eating, gifts for the giving, and stuff to spoil yourself just ‘cause), we’ve rounded up seven Sunshine Coast markets you need to hit this December. It ain’t a short list, so you’d better get cracking!
Vintage + Craft Flea | Saturday, December 3
We love a good scavenger hunt through piles of second-hand wares, and this month Share Space is making all our dreams come true with a Vintage + Craft Flea. Sustenance is key in situations like these, so there’ll also be a coffee cart and treats from the guys at Glass. And if you’re more a “I buy experiences, not things” person, you’ll be pleased to know there will be massages, readings, and reiki sessions also available. The fun starts at 8am, and we’re pretty sure it’s gonna get bizzzay, so if you want a new-to-you-wardrobe for summer, better get there first thing.
Where: 3/22 Beach Road, Maroochydore
Another Woman’s Closet | Sunday, December 4
For a new-to-the-coast market, Another Woman’s Closet has conquered the Coast with a bunch of events throughout the year. And it’s all because we’re suckers for a good bargain. Right? So round up your girls, gather all the shrapnel you can, and get shop-happy buying as many cute (secondhand) summer dresses as you can handle. Doors open at 8am—and for your pre-splurge, caffeine fix Peregian fave Skal Coffee is just a short stroll away.
Where: Peregian Beach Community House, 255 David Low Way, Noosa
Pop-Up Bazaar At The Lane Palmwoods | Saturday, December 10
If “buy local” is your mantra this Christmas, then you may wanna jot this one down. Popping up at The Lane in Palmwoods, this market will see plenty of stalls showcasing fashion, jewellery, pre-loved finds, and way more. Kicking off at 7am, we suggest you head straight to Homegrown for brekky, before denting your Xmas gift list at the bazaar, and ending it all with a take-home basket of local produce from Renae’s Pantry.
Where: The Lane, Main Street, Palmwoods
The Mooloolaba Collective Markets | Saturday, December 18
The Mooloolaba Collective Markets have only juuuuust launched, but already we’re sniffing a success. So we’re super stoked they’re bringing back the stalls and the vintage caravans in December for MCM round two. You’ll have no probs shopping like a hooligan from 8.30am to 12.30pm with the likes of macramé, all-natural beauty products, succulent displays, and so much more.
Where: Mooloolaba State School, 15 Meta Street, Mooloolaba
Eumundi Night Markets | Friday, December 2, 9, 16 & 23
Show us someone who doesn’t love a good night market and, well, we’ll show you someone who’s a little strange. ‘Cause night markets are awesome! And who better to throw one, than long-time heavyweight Eumundi Markets? Every Friday night ‘til Christmas, Eumundi Markets will come alive from 5pm to 9pm, with its offerings of arts, crafts and irresistible food stalls. There’ll also be outdoor movie screenings from 7pm, and if you’ve still got a thing for the man in the red suit, make sure you’re floating around by 6.30pm.
Where: 80 Memorial Drive, Eumundi
Caloundra Twilight Markets | Friday, December 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30
We couldn’t really think of a better location to roam between stalls, shop for last minute Chrissy pressies, devour street food, and listen to live music than the waterfront strip tracing Pumicestone Passage. Start your Caloundra Twilight Markets experience with a sunset dip, and end it with a hard-earned cocktail at the freshest new bar in town, 26 Degrees. Sounds like summer to us! The fun kicks off at 5pm.
Where: The Esplanade, Bulcock Beach, Caloundra
Hinterland Harvest Market | Saturday, December 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31
Another newbie to the Sunshine Coast market scene, Hinterland Harvest Market is held every Sunday in Woombye. Yep, it’s a weekly shindig, but still, we really think you ought to get there this December, because local support is everything. This farmers’ market has truckloads of local, leafy, tasty things to eat, so if you’re in charge of any Christmas festivity that involves fresh produce, make a note to stop here on the weekend to check it out.
Where: 7/9 Kiel Mountain Road, Woombye
