Poke Bowls Have Finally Hit The Coast & Here’s Where To Find ‘Em
If you haven’t heard of a poke bowl yet, we think you’re going to be pretty excited to find out what it is—basically, summer in a bowl.
The dish has been around in Hawaii forever, but it’s only taken the rest of the world by storm more recently. And the Sunshine Coast? Well, seeing we’re such cruisers, we’re only just joining the poke party now. As in TODAY!
So what is poke, you say? Put simply, poke is cubed, raw fish, which admittedly doesn’t sound all that exciting, but when you go nuts with the other flavours, it’s a real treat. Think kewpie mayo served with delish goodies like salmon, brown rice, edamame, zucchini, shredded beet, pickled cucumber, dried seaweed, ginger coriander, and all that sort of goodness—it’s sounding a bit more appealing now, right?
Oh, and by the way, it’s pronounced poh-kay not poke. You’re welcome.
Now, because we can see you’re totally drooling all over your keyboard, we’re gonna cut to the chase and tell you where you can grab your first ever (or first in a long time, if you’ve been to Hawaii) poke. You ready?
Launching their poke bowls to the people of the Sunshine Coast today, you can give a massive high-five to the healthy food wizards at Evolution Fuel for bringing this creation to our region. We salute you, guys!
Available only on Thursdays and Fridays, you might want to make your way to this Maroochydore cafe, stat!
