Great Thursday At Miami Marketta | Thursday, April 14
We all love a bit of Marketta in our lives, so why not include it in your Easter weekend adventures? This week only, they’ll be closed Good Friday (boo!), but instead throwing a special night out that’s aptly labelled Great Thursday (hurrah!). Featuring the oh so funky musings of Free The Genie, your ears will think you’ve packed up your bags and moved to paradise. Tuck into drool-worthy street food from across the globe, boutique beers, and extravagant cocktails, and start the weekend feels early at Miami’s favourite watering hole.
Cars, Bikes, and Coffee At Iron And Resin | Saturday, April 15
Revheads unite. Iron and Resin’s monthly Cars, Bikes and Coffee event has got you sorted with hotrods, decked-out motorbikes, live tunes, good vibes and, of course, almighty coffee and brekkie burgers. Kicking off at 8am and running until 11am, catch the bluesy croonings of Stephen Lovelight. If you can’t pop in on Saturday, cruise over on Sunday instead for rocking folk and Americana with Gregg Peterson.
Eat Grow Make Twilight Market | Saturday, April 15
Kick off your Easter long weekend the right way by heading along to the newest egg-stra cool market on the Gold Coast—Eat Grow Make. The crew from The Design Collective (yes, these guys are parents to yet another clever market creation, and yes, they’re totally on fire) will get the ball rolling from 3pm. So, stop by for delicious gourmet food truck treats or fresh produce from the farmers, then sit back and enjoy live music sets, cooking demos, and more! Supporting our locals never tasted so gooood.
Tropical Fiesta Salsa At Fiery Deli | Saturday, April 15
Work up a sweat and get saucy with Fiery Deli’s Tropical Fiesta. Boasting a live Latin DJ, free salsa class, Frose and Balter on tap, what more could you want? Chow down on delicious South American cuisine and indulge in a sneaky cocktail or five. If you’ve not yet discovered where Fiery Deli have relocated, head to level two of The Kitchens at Robina Town Centre (from 7pm).
Highly Sprung By Bleach* | Saturday, April 15 + Sunday, April 16
Finding it hard to start the day after a big “good” Friday night (see what we did there)? We hear you. And so do the performers from Australian Arts Company, Legs On The Wall. That’s why they’ve created a choreographed, acrobatic, interpretive trampoline routine telling four stories of people finding it hard to start the day. No, we’re not kidding. Running across the whole weekend, with performances scheduled between 10am and 5pm, Highly Sprung is bouncing into Broadbeach’s Pratten Park and is sure to have you captivated. Between shows, unleash your inner bunny and bounce your troubles away on the Highly Sprung tramp stage—fo’ freeee.
Inverted Dbah Pro | Saturday, April 15 + Sunday, April 16
There’s no denying cyclone Deb brought with her some pretty gnarly swell. That’s why this year’s Australian Body Boarding Pro in Duranbah has the potential to be even more epic than before. Hosting the best bodyboarders from around Australia, and the world, this is sure to be a worthy competitor for your time this Easter long weekend. Spectators are invited to flock to this shaka-worthy day and perhaps witness Joe Clarke’s first win of the year or Will Wardy’s second. And, if you’re not into wave watching, rest assured because you’ll be in for some serious babe watching.
Justin Lane Retro Roof Party | Sunday, April 16
Pump up the jam, pump it up! Justin Lane and GoGo Tropico are coming together to bring you an eggs-traordinary Easter Sunday soiree. Kick it old school at JL’s retro rooftop party under the stars. Pop, lock and drop it to tunes from the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s while sipping on apple and kaffir Caprioskas and swishing your booty to soul, funk, disco, and hip hop beats. At just $30 each (including a drink on arrival), tickets will sell out fast, so get in quick to start partying from 3pm ‘til late.
Food Truck Feast and Fireworks | Sunday, April 16
The GC City Council and Broadwater Parklands sure know how to turn up the heat on food truck round ups, and Easter is no exception! Hop on over from 5pm, and graze your way around the vast selection of international eats and food trucks—no rabbit food here, guys. Then boogie on down to tribute band Absolute 80s who’ll be playing all the old classics. Hang around for the fireworks show and celebrate your long weekend with a bang.
Easter At The Village Markets | Sunday, April 16
Work off that mountain of chocolate you’ll have eaten for breakfast with a stroll around The Village Markets. We’re big fans of brunches and boutiques, so why not combine both (and we don’t mean more chocolate). Check out up to 100 stalls run by local creatives and chill to live music, while picking up street eats from one of the many gourmet food trucks, open 8:30am to 1pm at Burleigh Heads State School.
Bleach* at Burleigh Beach | Sunday, April 16
The grand finale to Bleach fest’s 17-day extravaganza is no doubt Bleach* at Burleigh. Grab a couple of
brewskies satchels full of chocolate and head to the dunes with your picnic essentials to trump every other Sunday sesh, for the rest of eternity. Be sure to get in early and claim your patch-o-sand as this event is going to be ha-uuuge. Prepare for a blissful afternoon accompanied by your very own live sound track courtesy of Benny D Williams, Slip-on Stereo, and the undeniably cool Peruvian salsa orchestra, Sabor y Control.
