5 Reasons We’re Loving The Star
Over 30 years in the biz is some serious staying power.
With the Gold Coast growing and evolving fast than you can say “espresso martini!”, these guys were never planning to stand by idle and be a disappearing wallflower. Quite the contrary, in fact!
While old Jups holds cherished memories for many of us, it’s the present and future that we can truly stand up and get excited about.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you will have noticed the city’s top entertainment destination underwent a little, okay, a major, name change last month. The unveiling of The Star Gold Coast is the accumulation of a helluva lot of blood, sweat, tears, transformations, and new additions. And it’s only the beginning, folks!
Champagne Saturdays Are Officially A Thing
Could we love this hip and happenin’ joint any more? Garden Kitchen & Bar is a one-stop shop when you’re in the mood to socialise—‘cause once you snag a beanbag in the sunshine, you’ll feel like a high roller And the best thing? From now, Saturdays at Garden Kitchen & Bar will be known as Champagne Saturdays! Got something to celebrate, or just hankering for a long boozy lunch? Served between 12pm and 2:30pm, for $99 per head you’ll get a swanky two-course lunch and flowing Moet and Chandon champagne.
Mei Wei Dumplings For The Win
Good things come in small packages, and so do great things, such as xiao long bao. A dedicated dumplings bar on the Gold Coast? If you ever wanted to eat your weight in them, then The Star’s newest addition, Mei Wei Dumplings is the place. There’s simply nothing better than ordering every single kind of dumpling on the menu and after you’ve had your fill, you should order the prawn and pork noodle wonton soup. And then the Cantonese roasted duck. And then… you get the point.
Spend Sundays In The Garden
And because you’ll never tire of Garden Kitchen & Bar, you’ll be back on Sunday too, for their newly launched smoked BBQ menu at Sundays In The Garden! Think: wood-smoked ribs, brisket, burgers, and all the finger-licking southern-style sides you can handle. Don’t be afraid to tuck a napkin into your shirt, and then prepare to get seriously saucy. All while you masterfully sip on a Frosé or craft beer with the other hand, naturally.
Staycation Like You Mean It
In desperate need of a break, but can’t spare an extra second away from your overflowing inbox? Wanna treat your lover or bestie for that next special celebration? We sometimes forget that we live in a place the rest of the world flocks to holiday, so why not take advantage with a wee staycation at The Star? After a mega top to toe renovation, it’s practically a new hotel with plush rooms that’ll transport you to holiday mode in a jiffy. Sleep in, guilt-free, before spending the morning lounging by the pool. Next, progressive dine at Mei Wei Dumplings, Cucino Vivo, and Kiyomi, and then get stuck into an extra espresso martini or three at Garden Kitchen & Bar knowing your bed is only an elevator ride away.
The Best Is Yet To Come
When talk turns to The Star part deux, we know as much as the rest of you… Staggering works underway on a blinging 17-storey, six-star hotel? Check. Rooftop horizon swimming pool and bar? Check. New foodie options galore? Check. It’s the details we’re tripping over ourselves to learn. You, too? Can we expect next-level culinary offerings to make our capital cousins weep? International musical and theatre acts stopping by to blow our minds? While we want to know it all, and know it all now, we also love surprises and have plenty else that’ll satisfy our hunger while we wait (impatiently).
